August 15, 2024 — The FBHS yearbook staff has received the prestigious Distinguished Merit Award from the University Interscholastic League (UIL) for their outstanding work on the 2023-2024 yearbook, marking a significant achievement after last year’s Award of Achievement for the 2022-2023 edition.

“We’re incredibly proud of our students and their dedication to bringing this theme to life,” said Amy Brandewie, the yearbook advisor, “This award reflects their hard work and creativity, and it’s thrilling to see their efforts recognized at such a high level.”

The UIL Distinguished Merit Award is a testament to the yearbook team’s commitment to excellence, and the staff is already looking ahead to future projects, eager to continue making waves in the world of yearbook creation.

This year’s theme, “It All Comes in Waves,” explores the concept of waves through various lenses, including sound waves, beach waves, and the emotional ripples created by interpersonal connections. The creative team utilized vibrant imagery and thoughtful storytelling to capture the essence of their school community, showcasing how these waves shape their experiences.
