October 17, 2024 — Flour Bluff High School’s newly formed sailing club has made a remarkable debut by qualifying for the prestigious PCISA Girls National Invitational, set to take place in San Diego on October 19th. This achievement comes just seven months after the club’s inception in January 2024.

Over the weekend of September 28-29, the Flour Bluff sailing team competed in the Coastal Bend Regatta and Girls National Invitational Qualifier in Corpus Christi. The competition saw four schools vying for two coveted berths to the national championship. In a thrilling two-day series of nine races, the team faced off against Clear Lake High School, narrowly missing first place but securing a spot at nationals alongside their rivals.

The Flour Bluff team consists of six talented sailors, including four starters and two relief members, who will compete against the best high school girls’ teams from across the country. The regatta will feature continuous races from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

The Coastal Bend sailing community has rallied around the club, with the Corpus Christi Yacht Club (CCYC) sponsoring the team’s expenses for the regatta, covering airfare, lodging, and entry fees.

“This opportunity is a testament to the club’s mission of promoting sailing at all levels,” said [CCYC Representative’s Name]. “We’re proud to support these young athletes as they represent Flour Bluff on a national stage.”

As they prepare for this exciting competition, the Flour Bluff sailing club is ready to make their mark in the world of high school sailing.
