Flour Bluff ISD will have a strong showing at the upcoming 5A UIL Swimming & Diving State Meet. The District had 15 swimmers and one diver qualify for the state championships set for February 16-17 at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center at UT-Austin. Swimming and diving semi-finals will be on Friday and the Finals will be held on Saturday.

Boys
Kraig Bray: qualifying events – 200 freestyle relay, 100 backstroke, 400 freestyle relay
Doyle Gebert: qualifying events – 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle
Jesse Huang: qualifying events – 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay
Jack Pogue: qualifying events – 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay
Alex Wallett: qualifying events – 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay
Brian Whittington: qualifying event – 500 freestyle
Girls
Leah Collins: qualifying events – 200 medley relay, 200 individual medley, 100 backstroke, 400 freestyle relay
Hannah Hooper: qualifying event – 400 freestyle relay
Rachel Huang: qualifying events – 200 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay
Becca Hudson: qualifying event – 1 meter diving
Lauren Lindemann: qualifying events – 200 medley relay, 100 breaststroke
Gabriela Lopez: qualifying event – 200 freestyle relay
Raine Martinez: qualifying events – 200 medley relay, 500 freestyle, 400 freestyle relay
Madelyn Shephard: qualifying event – 200 freestyle relay
Ammarie Wallett: qualifying events – 200 medley relay, 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle relay
The Swim Team had a girl qualifier in every event. Boys swimmer, Alex Wallet, was named top swimmer of the Area Qualifying Event. In addition, Diver, Becca Hudson, is a first year member of the swim and dive team and qualified to compete in diving at the state tournament.
During the Area Qualifying Meet, Swim Team Coach, Bryan Hutchinson, was named Region 8 5-A Boys Swim Coach of the Year.
